My Attempt at a Padme Costume

Queen Padme Amidala was crazy about of costumes in all three star wars movies. But I will try an attempt (I think the easiest one) is the when Padme, Anakin and Obi Wan are in Geonosis fighting for their lives. She looks a little like this:
The costume consists of a white pants with a white long sleeve shirt. I trolled the internet for something similar. As I cannot sew (I'm trying to learn). Once I've got that its her utility belt and gun. I found them online but the gun was not the correct colour. So I went to Bunning to purchase silver and black spray paint. I also need to learn how to spray paint because the gun turned out like this:
Gun Belt
Where the paint is rubbering out and getting on everything. Which was a bummer :(

The next part was the cape. This part was a lot easier that I thought. It was just to purchase a waffle blanket from Spotlight and cut to size and sew it so it that helms do not fray.

The hair is another thing. Queen Amidala hair do can be a little bit crazy. But this one was a little more easy. Because it is just wrapped around tubing. This proved to be more difficult than first through. Firstly, because I have quite short hair I need hair extensions so to place in bun (then realized that I do not now hair ties or hair pins). Then purchased some bendy hair rollers and pieces of hair extensions to attach to the rollers. With help from this webpage. Gluing them together was the hardest (I'm very impatient) as I can't wait for thing to dry and all the hair got suck. So I gave up. Because the roller were yellow, I just decided that to spray paint the rollers black. Waited for that to dry and then knotted it like this:
And then pinned it to my bun.

Finally, the boots. They where definly the easiest. I found them online at a cosplay website but they were the wrong colour. I purchased these boots but requested that the colour to change. And guess what happened? There were still the wrong colour!!!!! But they were still awesome.

I'm starting to fix different things before the next convention (gun, hair and anybe the shirt and pants). My next costume will be a yellow power ranger for my birthday (minus the boots and helmet).

My First Post: Supanova Sydney 2013

Supanova Sydney 2013 was my fourth pop culture convention. Joining me on my convention adventures are two of my close friends. Karina and Emily. Karina and I are taking Emily on her first convention. I hope she enjoyed it. I know I did. Expect the normality of very long lines and lots of this the buy.

This event in Sydney included some big names (maybe not to me) for example Carrie Fisher who was Princness Lea in Star Wars, David Hasselhoff (Bay Watch and Knight Rider), Alan Tudyk (Firefly/Serenity and Dollhouse), Dwarfs from the Hobbit (Aidan Turner, Adam Brown and Jed Brophy), King Arthur (Bradley James) and his knights (Rupert Young, Eoin Macken and Tom Hopper). There was Eve Myles and Kai Owens for Torchwood (Gwen Cooper and Rhys Williams) which I'm more excited!!!!.

It started in Friday after my second exam, the preview night for Supanova Sydney. Waited about 2 hours to purchase autograph and photo tokens. Which felt like FOREVER!!!!!! But all worth it. I got a photo and autograph with Alan Tudyk, Alan Tudyk to add to my firefly/serenity cast photo, photo and autograph with Eve Myles and an autograph with Kai Owen.

On the next day, which was more exciting than the first. Started with me dressed in my cosplay outfit. Which was more exciting to my friends than me. It was Queen Amidala in her white battle dress in the second Star Wars movie (Star Wars: Attack of the Clones). It looks like this:

First thing we did was wait in line for Eve Myles' talk. And there was a surprise. Kai Owen joined her!!! They are like husband and wife because they are so in synced with each other. I laughed and laughed about their stories especially the ones about a naked John Barrowman. I took a couple of pictures on my phone (which are not very good and from very far away).

Next is photos with Alan Tudyk (30 mins in the line and 5 secs for the photo). And then to his talk. Another long line. Alan Tudyk is also very funny. By the end of the day it was just lots of waiting in line. Especially for Alan Tudyk's autograph. But I'm happy that I did it because there was no coming back on Sunday (I've got work and an exam on Monday).

Beside the waiting in line, I had awesome fun and got asked to join the 501st Legion!!!!!

After all that wait there are no photos of me by myself in my costume because we all forget :(.
